Overview

Though Jean-Georges Vongerichten is one of the world’s most famous chefs, his skills extend far beyond the kitchen. A savvy businessman and restaurateur, Jean-Georges is responsible for the operation and success of a constellation of three and four star restaurants worldwide. It is the mission and intent of this position that the incumbent will help in the overall day to day operation, and long term outlook of the restaurant.  The Server will help create a pleasant dining environment and experience for guests.

Responsibilities

  • Thorough knowledge of restaurant operations, including food, beverage, service techniques, and guest interaction
  • Familiarity with the pass ticket system
  • Co-facilitate food training and tastings with Training Manager and/or Chef when needed
  • Familiarity with the food bible (ingredients, allergens, and sauces)
  • Considerable skill in math and algebraic equations using percentages
  • Ability to walk, stand, and/or bend continuously to perform essential job function
  • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, with guests and employees, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information, or resolve problems
  • Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods
  • Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system; basic understanding of POS systems required

Qualifications

 

  • At least two years of previous restaurant experience, preferably in a fine dining establishment
  • Qualifying Certificate in Food Protection
  • Have a high school diploma, or equivalent
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers and co-workers
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on restaurant needs
